What should teenagers wear to a funeral?

One of my friend's mother died recently. A few of us are going to her funeral to support our friend. We're aged between 16 and 18. I was wondering if it was ok to just wear black jeans and a black top or do I have to wear something more formal? What should teenagers wear to a funeral?
The same rules as church.

NO bare midriffs, or cleavage front or back.

Sounds like you were on the right track, but I also suggest you skip makeup. I end up weeping at sad things, and if you are all done up you'll look a fright.

And i think its sweet of you to support your friend. What should teenagers wear to a funeral?
i would say a nice simple dress, or a knee-length pencil skirt with nice shoes--no flip flops.

respect is key in attending a funeral; you don't want to offend a grieving family by not treating their loss with the utmost respect. save the jeans for later....
It depends on the family of the deceased. Maybe you should ask your friend what they would prefer. My personal opinion is that clothes should be covering all intimate body parts and not have writing on them for church, funerals, etc.
I don't think jeans are appropriate for a funeral. Do you have black pants or a skirt? Or even gray. You don't have to wear black to a funeral, but I would wear darker colors.
Black pants (not jeans) and a dark colored top. Definitely not a T-Shirt/Polo. Its always better to be more dressed up than dressed down. You don't want to stick out.

Sorry about your loss.
Nope thats grand. I always wear a black pants/jeans a black jacket and a top of some dark colour like purple or just a black top. Just make sure your top isnt too low and your grand. I'm 16.

One of my best friends' mother died in november and it was really hard to deal with so i have some idea of how you must be feeling, just try and be there for your friend.

Good luck!
that sounds fine to me
