How strict are movie theaters about letting teenagers under 16 watch rated R movies?

I know when I was growing up it really wasn't a big deal we paid we got in. My daughter is trying to see Orphan this weekend she is 14.How strict are movie theaters about letting teenagers under 16 watch rated R movies?
If you bring her there and pay, it's ok.

It simply means it's up to your discretion to judge whether or not it's suitable. They have a general age system with numbers and values to have an idea of what is suitable.

The idea is prevent younger persons to be badly affected by movies.

You said she's your daughter, it means you, mother in law, can buy tickets and legally grant her the permission to go.

Remember, not a paper, not a word; you go there and buy them. They simply cannot tear apart any tickets a person holds legally and they can't tell you who you give them to. You're a client and you can allow anyone you are legally in charge to see anything you want.

Also, they rarely bothers about a 15 y.o. or so buying one. Of course, if she's looking like 12, it migth be more difficult for her goign alone. I hope they have a certain sense of duty and virtue, at least to the point of considering the idea of not letting a kid going for a bloody movie. But, again, they can as well simply don't give a ****.

I'd advise you to go; her friends might appreciate the gesture as well. You always look ';cool'; when you prevent problems by directly giving an access and it prevents dozen of problems. Get her there, buy the tickets for her and get away. This way, she'll feel free and appreciated and on your side you won't be called for your daughter who sneaks into the wrong places.

I know it's always a problem with most teens to have mother nearby and this is why I explain you how she'll probably feel if you do it correctly. How strict are movie theaters about letting teenagers under 16 watch rated R movies?
dis surely helped me alot.

Eh, my movie theaters not strict, the only time I got ID'ed was when I went to see Bruno (because it's really graphic)

If they don't let her buy the ticket, than just go in there real quick and buy it for her.

:]
It depends on the theater and who works there. What me and my friends do is pay for a ticket for a PG or PG13 movie then throw away the stubs and go to the movie we actually want to see. Then if people hassle us we say we threw the stubs away and our parents paid.
Options

Go with her

Have an older friend to take her

Lie about her age

Buy a ticket for a PG movie and then sneak to Orphan

But lying about her age is easier because it's not like they'll do a check on it.
lol I just buy a ticket to another movie and go to the rated r movie
You have to be 17 to BUY a Rated R movie ticket. Someone at least 17 has to buy it for her.
it just depends. a guy i went to school with always worked the late shift and would only charge people from our school like 2 dollars when it really cost 8.
Oh they shouldn't care i saw Bruno a few weeks ago (rated R) with two of my friends we are all 14 they didnt care
They won't let you in unless someone over 18 is at the ticket booth when you buy your ticket
If she has older friends to pay for her she'll be fine.
In CA. They will check ID. If she is not with a parent then she will not be let in! Why would you allow her to see such a bad movie anyway! I wouldn't allow my 14 year old to watch it. Then again she would be allowed to be by her/hisself at that age anyway!

  • Can teenagers become depressed if they are not in a relationship?

Hi I am going to be a child psychologist and I was wondering in teenagers, can NOT having a boyfriend or girlfriend cause teenagers to become depressed. Thanks, I really appreciate it.Can teenagers become depressed if they are not in a relationship?
No. That in itself would not cause depression, but it might be a 'contributing factor'. People need to feel happy and content on their own, especially teens. Can teenagers become depressed if they are not in a relationship?
when i was younger i heard my friends talking about going out with thier boyfriends and talking to guys they liked.

hmmm. i was sad then because ** i was not the cutest girl but i had a fabulous personality.

i do not think it is relationships that make teens depressed. it is body image, personality, and/or clothes.

and i think that it is what i just mensioned that may cause a lead to depression and also failed relationships.

i think you will make an excellent child psychologist! (hmm. i dont know you, but i think you will do well).

** i a supah rockin cutie pie now!! haha

    hope i helped!
TOTALLY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! People want to know that they are loved and want to be loved a lot when you are a teenager (me being one myself and going through this) Teenagers will get super desperate when they really want a boy friend or girl friend. I know that me and a lot of my friends are feeling that way. Like you are so ready and you just want to have one SO bad! I think that it does depress people because you see other people at the school with each other and are all happy and stuff and then you are like alone...with friends...but no one that you love THAT way. I find myself getting depressed some times... :(

    Hope that helps :)
Yes its possible. They watch tv and watch other teens and notice how lonely they are. everyone (yes everyone, even if you do not like to admit it) wants a partner. A person to tell everything to and spend time with. So yeah they can be depressed over not having a relationship with another person.
Yes, because probably the case is [with mostly girls] that the teenager will eventually begin to feel lonely.

Also, in high school, you see couples almost everywhere.

    Well, in mine you do.

So it can make one feel lonely and they want that other person that they can go to for a smile or just to have a pleasant time to make them feel happy, valued, and wanted.
    Yes, it's possible.

Because every teen wants love, and it drives them really crazy if they don't have it.
Of course they can, look at this forum for a few minutes and you'll have enough information for a case study
yes b/c they see others around them w someone and it could make them feel lonely and can cause major depression
Yes they can. I know I struggled greatly and still do for that matter.

IWhat are the best audio books for teenagers?
that is a how long is a piece of string question -

what do you mean by best? those that they will enjoy most or those that will help their education most?

    boys or girls or both?

personally i wouldn't recommend an audio book to anyone unless they were unable to read a paper version for some reason. you get much more out of a book by reading it yourself not least because it is much easier to flick back to refresh your memory about something in a paper book that it is on audio

Hummer H2. It's strong. What kind of cars are safe for teenagers?
of definately a safe car. its so safe that you have no money to pay for gas so that it sits on your driveway. no way for your daughter to get into accidents

a 2000 or up ford Taurus. they are good on fuel and were rated very high in the government crash tests
no car is safe for a teen.
buy any car, make her pay for the insurance.
Well anything that has a good or high safety rating. You can talk to the dealer about that. Either way if you know your daughter is a safe driver, you have almost nothing to worry about.
I don't know anything about the best type car for your purposes, but I would like to point you to a very good article I enjoyed, that you might like to share with your daughter ...

    Automobile Accidents鈥擜re You Safe?:

    a quote:

    ';Whether you are older or younger, an experienced driver or a novice, you are not immune to the dangers of automobile accidents. Recognize the serious responsibility that comes with driving. Take precautions to reduce your chances of being involved in a collision. By doing so, you may protect yourself and others throughout many journeys yet to come.';

There are many more on the same Web site,

some related ones listed to the side of each article.
i suggest to get her formula 1.. heheheheh
A Honda is one of your safest bets. They now have six airbags in each car. The new civic has fivestar front driver, passenger and five star side passenger and driver crash test ratings. They are very safe cars and should last you over 200,000 miles
sumthen that she can easily drive, so not sum oversized-not needed SUV or truck. minimum 2-airbags, ABS and prehaps traction control. sumthen like a civic, camry(as un-cool as they are) focus or the like would b a good choice.

make sure she does pay insurance herself (this could help her 2 b more careful with her driving+parking) and makes sure she has no trouble's parking the car...major issue with teenage chicks...they cant park(well usually from my experiance).

oh make sure its in a nice colour or all she will do is complain until u get a new car.

What career would enable me to counsel teenagers and have an impact on their lives?

I want to give back to the youth who have had a rough life almost like a summer camp counselor only full time. I love making an impact on teens and i want it to be my career. What category of careers does this description fall under? What career would enable me to counsel teenagers and have an impact on their lives?
Counselor! You have it in your answer. Perhaps you should be a child psychologist, especially if you are wanting to impact a child's (teen's) life. Maybe a psychiatrist? Did you want to be able to prescribe drugs? I think maybe you should think specifically on what you'd like to do and how you'd best help, such as talking to them, or caring for them as a nurse, or even taking them in to live with you and being a foster parent. I don't know where you live, but where I'm at now there's a bunch of places where kids go for a variety of reasons, such as drugs, promiscuity, truancy, or just for a respite. These places hire people to facilitate their return home, such as:

Houseparents: overseeing some kids in a household setting on an extended, live in basis

Care Worker (or something similar): overseeing them in various settings, not live in

Case Worker: being the liaison between the child and basically the outside world

Psychiatrist/psychologist: monitor the mental health of the kids

There are lots more and the best way to find out where you could get started may be at your local YMCA, where they should have a list of safe places for kids to play, be sheltered, or get help. Then you could maybe volunteer/apply for a position at one of these places.

However you do it, I commend you for wanting to do such a selfless thing. Please write and update once you've started working with kids and tell us how it's going.

What are some good books for girl teenagers?

    Any book by Sarah Dessen, she is a great writer. Some of her best books are ';Dreamland,'; and ';The Truth About Forever.';
The best book I can think of is called 'The Sight' by David Clement-Davies. It's about a wolf pack and their adventure to escape an evil wolf. (I won't completely ruin it for you.)

But if you are not interested in wolves then you might want to try the book 'Ender's Game' by Orson Scott Card. This book it a science fiction one. Has a great plot and lots of interesting turns to talk about with your friends! And if you end up liking it then it has a few sequels to it.

    Hope I helped you some!

Our watches are provided by companies such as Cingular, Verizon, and T-Mobile! haha. :] True.
People wear watches still. If you can afford it, splurge for a Jacob. Without a doubt the best purchase you will ever make.

How common is cholecystitis or gallstones in teenagers?

I'm 15 and I have cholecystitis. I'm not obese and I don't have a family history of it. I was just wondering how common is this? How common is cholecystitis or gallstones in teenagers?
Rarely, a form of acute cholecystitis without gallstones (acalculous cholecystitis) occurs. Acalculous cholecystitis is more serious than other types of cholecystitis. It tends to occur after the following:

    *

    Major surgery

    *

Critical illnesses such as serious injuries, major burns, and bodywide infections (sepsis)

    *

Intravenous feedings for a long time

    *

    Fasting for a prolonged time

    *

A deficiency in the immune system

It can occur in young children, perhaps developing from a viral or another infection. How common is cholecystitis or gallstones in teenagers?
About 3% of the population ends up with cholecystitis caused by gallstones. Females have the problem 2x to 3x more frequently than males, older people more often than young, and people of Scandinavian descent more than most other races.
This is usually something that older people get: ';40, fat, and flatulent'; was something I remember from nursing.

So I don't think it is that common. How's your diet? Stress?

What is the best advice on raising teenagers?

Daughter is sensitive, naive and a bit on the impulsive side. Doubt that drugs and alcohol will be the rocks in the road she will stumble upon but guys... just a feeling I have. She seems to want to feel needed... More of introvert with large groups of people but more outgoing in smaller groups. Grades are excellent. What is the best advice on raising teenagers?
Whatever you do, dont be too nice or too sweet they will walk all over you.

Unfortunaetly you have to start out rasing them right at a very young age.

-But the best advice i can now give you is always be a MOM to them NOT a friend, be strict and dont take your eyes off of them.

-Always make sure you know who their friends are. No matter what they say ';DONT'; trust them they are teens and any chance they get to misbehave they will do it.

-My mom had the greatest qualities i parent should have:

Strict, Understanding, Nurturing, Had lots of rules for me and my brother to follow, etc.

-Everytime i wanted to go out and have fun with my so called friends she always told me ';no'; there is time for everything.

    She was right!

I hated her back in my teen years. I hardly ever had fun, i was very miserable. I was only allowed to go out with my family or my two best friends. And it sucked because i wanted to be more popular in high school, and i taught that by going to parties and hanging out with kids i would acheive my goal. I was never to popular in high school.

But now i look back and i thank her everyday more and more for being such a good mom. I've realised that there is time for everything, and now that i am mature enough i have SAFE fun and i love my life. I'm just starting to live.

My childhood was the best childhood ever because i didnt grow up to fast like most kids today.

and now more than ever i realise that my mom did a great job and that all parents should be like her.

    Good luck

and i reall really really hoped i helped

What is the best advice on raising teenagers?
I would make room for alot of mother and daughter time inviting her friends over when convieant Watching who she hangs out with encouraging her to join things at school my friends kids always told me what was going on tell her if there is anything she wants to tell you you are there for her one hundred percent the key to teenagers keep them occupied and busy and talk to them even when attitude strikes yelling is worthless sitting down calmly talking to them works
Make sure you don't embarrass her, try and get a night that shes not busy on and find out her favorite type of movie, if she doesn't have friends over she'll probably want some company and you could try watch it on the couch next to her. :D

Try and sit the boys down and have a talk.. not so much about where they're going in life, more or less about how they will treat her.

Tell them that they can't hurt your little girl or you'll grab you sledge hammer..

    Lmao

And remember NEVER embarrass her but do make her look and feel independent (like letting her go out.)
always be a mother to her but i have found that being best friends with my daughters has helped immensely. my daughters talk to me about alot of things and i don't think we have too many secrets. the best thing you can do is always be there for her. good luck
She sounds alot like i am just let her know that your proud about the grades and just let her have her space while at the same time letting her know that your glad she's there if that makes sense....
Pray and then pray some more. God Bless.

How do I safely find fellow gay teenagers to date in my area?

I am a 17 year old still in high school, and I have finally accepted myself and wish to embrace my life as a young gay man. Although I have come to accept who I am, I am not yet willing to be open with my parents.

I want a way to safely meet other gay people my age in my area. I want to find others to interact with and begin dating. How do I go about doing this?

Over the internet or what would you recommend?

Thank you!How do I safely find fellow gay teenagers to date in my area?
Put flyers up in your neighborhood and around town.

Make it like a personal classified ad, state who you are and what you are looking for.

Don't forget to leave info on how to reach you if someone would like to reply.

Good Luck Dater :))How do I safely find fellow gay teenagers to date in my area?
As long as you are not able to be completely open and honest with all people in your life who matter to you, there is no such thing as safe. You really need to deal with that, and get the fear out of your life. Once everyone you know, love or care form knows and had dealt with any issues which coming out may present, then its time to move on to open and honest dating. In the meanwhile for ';closet dating'; use google to find gay suport groups in your area, they will present you a wealth of knowledge without draggin you out of the closet.
key word in your question 'safely' i would suggest not since youth of this age have hormones boiling over seem to play around to much and that is extremely dangerous.

wait a few years if you still feel the same find someone like yourself at college or community gay groups who are working through social problems, and or simply supporting the rainbow. then you can forge a serious long term monogamous SAFE relationship.
    Gay Bar!

Nah, too young, so keep it simple.

I swear where I'm at finding one gay person is like finding a needle in a haystack. Ugh! but you can always join gay youth clubs, talk to the youth there, conversate, hey they might even help you come out. No matter what you do though, make sure you stay safe alright?

    Good luck!
Homosexuality is clearly condemned by the Bible. It goes against the created order of God. He created Adam and then made a woman. This is what God has ordained and it is what is right. Unlike other sins, homosexuality has a severe judgment administered by God Himself. This judgment is simple: They are given over to their passions. That means that their hearts are allowed to be hardened by their sins (Romans 1:18ff). As a result, they can no longer see the error of what they are doing. Without an awareness of their sinfulness, there will be no repentance and trusting in Jesus. Without Jesus, they will have no forgiveness. Without forgiveness, there is no salvation.
When you become 18, you can use the following good site, it's for serious gays, from all over the world, and so you'd easily find gays in your area, and this is not for sex or porn, this is for love, friendship, long term relationships. It's a lovely site:
I would recommend gay support groups. If your school does not have a GSA then look into community groups. I wouldn't really recommend the net, there are some creepers out there.

You should talk to your parents or some adult about this. You probably could pitch ideas; it would just be harder to get an audience since you're a kid, and adults tend not to take kids seriously. Also, you could look in a bookstore or library for books about starting new video games and patenting ideas. Like I said, I think that you can do this, but it will probably be difficult. Good luck!!!

What is the normal level of a teenagers blood sugar?

My son is 19 and was diagnoised with hypoglycemia several years ago. Since then, we have had no problems controlling it but now he is away from home and he started feeling bad. A nurse checked his level and told him it was 52. My question is... What should it normally be and how worried should I be about him right now? Any suggestions on what he should eat asap to bring it up?What is the normal level of a teenagers blood sugar?
I have just gotten these ranges for blood sugars from a very reputable endocrinologist recently.

These are normal ranges for those that do NOT have diabetes..

    Fasting70 - 99

    2 hours after a meal 70 - 139

Ranges for those that do have diabetes are higher than these.

I was hypoglycemic most of my life before developing diabetes, and my husband is severely hypoglycemic. Your son needs to eat around 6 small meals each day, that contain good carbs. He needs to stay away from sugary things. Although they will help keep his blood sugar up, it will not sustain a healthy level, it will let it fall quickly. Carbs will raise his blood sugar to better levels and keep it there much longer. Having between meal snacks like granola bars, peanuts, peanut butter crackers, or any kind of good carb is what he needs. He needs to keep snacks close at hand when he is going to be more active, like football, or other sports, or just walking. He should eat a good snack before participating in exercise of any kind. Any time he starts to feel strange, weak, shaky, sweaty, you know the normal things he feels when his blood sugar is going low, he needs to eat carbs. Don't eat the sugar or the juice unless he is really bad and has to get it back up immediately. A person getting low blood sugar has warning signs and should pay immediate attention to them. He should also wear a medic alert braclet to inform people of his health problem in case he is not able to tell them. You son should also be tested for diabetes on a regular basis, because being hypoglycemic can sometimes be a prelude to developing diabetes. What is the normal level of a teenagers blood sugar?
i was hypoglycemic for a long time b4 i was diagnosed with diabetes, if they arent too low id drink juice and if they are a little more severly low soda works best for me, not too much. if his sugars are that low it could be a pre cursor to diabetes so keep an eye out, his pancreas is producing too much insulin and not working properly and eventually it may just give out, i wouldnt worry about the possibility of diabetes because you cant stop type 1 from developing but i would educate myself to know the signs and symptoms
A person without diabetes should have a blood sugar reading between 90-120. 52 is a little low... just tell him to keep some snacks in his pocket that he can get out easily whenever he feels like his blood sugar is getting low. For instance, Smoothie King sells small things of honey for .25 and i keep them in my purse. You could also get him a thing of life savers to keep in his pocket.
80-110 is a normal blood sugar level...52 is very low and im sure hefelt pretty crappy....u may want to check with a nutritionist and see about what type diet your son can eat....he should possibly carry some sugary snacks with him to raise his sugar..hard candy....etc which will help in a pinch

    Teen Issues Group

Although people are resistant to admitting they have anger management issues, it is sometimes better to call it what it is, and let them deal. I once had an anger management group with 9 teens who all denied having anger management problems. I pointed that out to them, quite humorous. If you focus on the behaviors that got them referred and how common anger management problems are they will eventually come around.
    Anti-Fight Club ...

I don't know - I think if it's anger management it has to be called anger management or something of the sort. Sure, it may have bad connotations. Maybe something along the lines of How to Adequately Deal With Your Feelings - For Adolescents.
    A Hand for Anger?

Maybe that's a bit less intimiadating.

If I was a teen going to an anger management group, I'd be intimidated by having a group with ';Anger management'; inside it.

  • How do I safely find fellow gay teenagers to date in my area?

5 teenagers in the last week have died from being struck by lightning?

Isn't this an unusually high number, and what could be causing it? All the deaths occured between Virginia and Georgia.5 teenagers in the last week have died from being struck by lightning?
It just goes to highlight the fact that while you normally hear mostly about the death and destruction caused by tornadoes and hurricanes, on average lightning actually kills more than the both of those combined, and is second only to flooding. There is nothing really unusual about it, just that they happened in a relatively short amount of time.5 teenagers in the last week have died from being struck by lightning?
Virginia and Georgia are sort of close to each other on a Global scale. Due to this fact, weather fronts might have caused the same/similiar storms to take place in both areas.

Still, it seems very unusual that these deaths have happened!
Wow, I live in Virginia and never heard anything about that! That's crazy. I'd say it's a high number, j/b you never hear about that kind of stuff happening too often. And 5 in a week? Wow.
what could have casued it was the storms that hit there and they might had have had metal or have been wet when the storms hit
Looks like lightening didn't like them.

What do you think most greatly influences Harajuku's popularity around young adults and teenagers?

Please answer this question as seriously as possible. If not, I'll fail English (laughs). Thanks. And it doesn't matter if you've been there or not, I just need an answer on what you think. What do you think most greatly influences Harajuku's popularity around young adults and teenagers?
I think it is the variety in clothing and shops that attracts people especially between the ages of 13-25 to Harajuku. It is a place where people can change who they are and become some one for as long as they want. They can express who they are through their clothes and accessories and even through the food they eat. I think it is the idea that people can be original without being judged that attracts them there. No one is prejudiced because everyone is like family there :) They go there for the same reason. :)What do you think most greatly influences Harajuku's popularity around young adults and teenagers?
    fashionnn.

its very unique and eye-catching, and people don't have to be ashamed of what they where to Harajuku since EVERYONE is wearing funky clothes;D

  • Can teenagers in middle school take a pepper spray to school?

My dad gave me a pepper spray for self defense. He told me to carry it around everywhere and their attached to my keys. I need my keys to get home from school, im i allowed to bring it to school?Or will i get into some major deep trouble? Can teenagers in middle school take a pepper spray to school?
I do believe you are not allowed to have it at school because it can be used as a weapon.

You should go and ask your principal about this though. And if they say no, then there's your 100% clear answer. But if your father still wants you to carry it with you, have him to write a letter/E-mail or phone into the School board and ask there.

I would want my children to have something to protect them-self's from predators from and to school, and any other time they are out of the house.

Keep SafeCan teenagers in middle school take a pepper spray to school?
Check your school rules, but generally no, it is considered a weapon. My friend had her hand sanitizer confiscated because the teacher thought it was pepper spray. (: Good times. So no, I would not bring it to school.
I wouldn't take that to school if I were you. The only way I could see you having that at school is if you kept it in your locker.
you should talk to your principal and see if its ok. im sure he/she will understand if it makes your dad feel more comfortable
deep trouble. it is a weapon. Zero tolerance. sorry i would want you to have it too!
No. It is considered a weapon.

What age is normal these days for teenagers to start dating?

Like, a serious relationship? Not just talking and ****.What age is normal these days for teenagers to start dating?
Seriously? Probably 16ish. They have their license and more freedom. 16 is the norm for somewhat serious dating. What age is normal these days for teenagers to start dating?
Well it's tough to say when people get really serious about their relationship. The normal starting for serious relationships can start if both are mature like around the high school years to people getting serious around their college or university years, to even just after all the school is done. But the norm around dating is close to around their high school years.
I think teens around the age of 16-19 start having their first serious relationships. I'm 17, and I've never actually had a serious serious relationship. Dating has just been for fun. I don't think I'm quite ready. I don't know what it really means yet. I think as I get a bit older and mature I'll be more ready.
Dating Cafe: always free of any charge.

They even have video-audio chat access for free, personal blog, discussion forum, photo galleries, rate pictures and many more.

I highly recommend it because I know for sure it will remain free forever (no upgrades, trials or other kin of bullshit)

Most teens start ';seriously'; dating when they get to high school. I mean they take it seriously but they hardly last because they're not serious enough for those in it to think they will. Anyhow, if that's what you mean then 14.
Im 17, and i just got a gf, cause i felt comfortable. i think its more so when you feel comfortable, not when you turn a certain age.
For serious relationships.. 13-14. My friend and her bf, they are like 1 year and 4 months and still strong so yeah . You just have to find the right one.

    Goodluck.

It depends on the person. Noone should be really serious tho until matured.
    A real relationship maybe 15
13, that's when my parents let me start.

And I think that was a perfect age.

What kinds of things do you ';say'; to get elementary age children and young teenagers to smile?

For their photo shoot and you're the photographer. And you're taking pictures of about 60 of them in a 4 hour period. I mean you can't be using ';say cheese';. that's old, unprofessional. What kinds of things do you ';say'; to get elementary age children and young teenagers to smile?
Say Harry Potter! They will either smile or throw up.What kinds of things do you ';say'; to get elementary age children and young teenagers to smile?
Try hats, noise makers, dolls, puppets ........ sports questions.....pictures of fancy cars.....Britney Spears.......anything that a elementary student would be interested in.....Ask the teacher what that age group is into.....With a cable release in one hand you can do wonders showing things with the other.
';Say cheese'; is not unprofessional, but you can catch them off guard by telling them to say:

    Cheeseburger

    Cheapskate

    Cheesy Pizza

    cheep, cheep, cheep

    Cheerios

Let your imagination be your guide. You can also ask them what their favorite book is, who their favorite character is, etc.

Tell them to imagine giving this picture to their favorite person or character. That takes a little more time, but the smile will reach their eyes if they are really into it.
'; now i want u to look me right in the eye....and don't smile...k?'; and then u start smiling like rlly hard.....itz contagious
    say ';smile or you wont get treats!';
Say something from high school musical...the little ones will love it and the older ones will get a kick out of it
just tell them to think of something really funny or something that makes them reallly happy and pretend like they're there in that moment again and have them smile like they were

    hehe i dont know!
Boogers, snot or my personal favorite, poop
My personal favorite is to tell them to say ';purple people eater';. They are so caught off guard they smile before they even try to say anything.
They expect you to say ';say cheese'; so think of something crazy like

    Say Fudgeburger

    Say Beetle nose

    Say Brittany Spears

Anything to catch them off quard, then you might get that smile.
    try to act cool or say something dorky like ';groovy';
this is a tough question, i think you should say a joke about their teachers or teacher. say something like mr,manning is gay or an idiot...ofcourse ask the teacher for permission first !

Like animalcrossingcommunity for example, if you know what that is. I used to be a member there but got banned for a stupid reason. What are some good chat/forum websites for a 15 year old girl? What are some forum-type websites for teenagers to go on?

It would probably be alright if it had more members. Only 3 users right now. It is new and was created on 17th January so I don't think the owner expects many members. You can help make it grow! What are some forum-type websites for teenagers to go on?

Are teenagers more likely to get pregnant quicker than older women?

Are teenage girls more likely to get prgnant quicker than older women if they aren't protecting themselves? Is a 16, 17 year old girl more fertile? Are teenagers more likely to get pregnant quicker than older women?
When a baby girl is born, she is born with the entire amount of eggs in her ovaries that will be with her the rest of her life.

In my opinion, teenage girls have more chances of getting pregnant than an older woman for one reason only. They have sex for no specific reason other than the sake of saying they aren't a virgin anymore.

Some teen girls, or boys, don't use any kind of protection whereas adult women try to PLAN their pregnancies. As we age we sometimes find that we have reproductive problems. And that accounts for alot of problems.

Teens have sex and some do not seem to care about what could happen AFTER the act is done. Adult women are more mature and their lives are stable to the point they can afford to support a child. They're settled in their lives where a teen is not. Alot of teens do things on a dare or on on a whim. And I think that's what get us adult women so upset...teens having sex...not thinking of the consequences of their actions...not being responsible...teens having abortions or putting their child up for adoption. There are alot of parents in this world raising their grandchildren because their child didn't use common sense.

I don't expect alot of people to have my same point of view. But teens need to look at their future and what they would like to do with their lives. Having a child when you're 13, 14 or 15 really puts a crimp in your plans. Because they'd have to change their plans to include a child. Teens shouldn't expect their parents to bail them out of every hard situation they get themselves into. We have enough to deal with trying to raise you right. Are teenagers more likely to get pregnant quicker than older women?
    Yes, for two reasons:

The teenaged girl generally hasn't had time to develop the health conditions that impair fertility later in life, such as scarring of the fallopian tubes from pelvic inflammatory disease (though she's very likely to get it if she has condomless sex with multiple partners, because it's sexually transmitted).

The other reason is that teenaged girls are usually having sex with teenaged boys, whose sperm counts are usually through the roof.
When you think about it, many many years ago when human life expectancy was a lot shorter and people only lived to be 35 or so, if you didn't have a baby in your teens, you missed the boat. Back then you couldn't wait until after 30 to have a baby. Life expectancy has changed and so has our view on what is a good age to have a baby but hormones are still hormones and that is what drives many young people to have sex early and sometimes pregnancy happens.
my doctor told me that yea a teenager is more likely to get pregnant because between the ages 14 and 22 is wen the body is most prepared for pregnancy but not every girl is emtionally ready for pregnancy so if girls read this please sont think taht jsut because ur body is ready that means u are ready
Im pretty sure teenagers would be more fertile.

Its like women who are 45 now, its hard for them to have a baby but its possible, it was on the news before that i think a 64 year old woman gave birth and it was her own conceived child.
Studies have shown women in their 20's are the most fertile and have the healthiest babies. However a teenage girl will be more fertile then a 35yr + woman.
Yes since the bodies of older women get old, teenagers haven't ';used up'; their body. So it's more likely that the teenager will get pregnant first.

    *~Julie~*
I think teenage girls are more fertile, but please don't try until you know you are ready for a baby - they are 24/7 of bloody hard work!
well teenage girls, their cycle isn't exactly regular so they never know when they are ovulating.
i think they are more fertile which is sad really.
    I dunno I ain't a doctor
yes for sure...your eggs are newer and much more fertile...
    simple answer is YES
    i think so
Fertility is not based on maturity. Your body is most fertile when it is easiest for you to PHYSICALLY have a child. Just because you are fertile when you are young doesn't mean you should.

Likewise, just because you can have a child at 45 doesn't mean you should.

Edit: Sorry to offend the old ladies. :(

What are your thoughts about kids/young teenagers that are homeschooled?

Im writing a persuasive speech and im againest homewschooling and I want to survey your opinions!!

*WRITE ME WHATEVER COMES TO YOUR MIND ABOUT THIS ISSUE! SOMEONE WHO CAN GIVE ME A GREAT ANSWER GETS 10 BEST ANSWER POINTS!What are your thoughts about kids/young teenagers that are homeschooled?
The grammar in your question confirms that I made the correct choice to home school. Spell check buttons work great as well.

I second firebird, there is not a shred of evidence that homeschooling done correctly is detrimental. I suppose that a few bad examples could be exploited (people who claim to homeschool, but really don't), but then again, the opposing side could probably find a lot more bad examples in the public school system (abusive teachers, violence, bullies, failing schools, ect).

You may want to do some real research before you stand to firm on a disproved opinion. What are your thoughts about kids/young teenagers that are homeschooled?
I know a number of kids/teens who are homeschooled. I enjoy being with them, they tend to be fairly comfortable dealing with a variety of people, not so focused on being trendy, don't mind so much being different, tend to accept those who are different, don't care that much about how old other people are... The majority are great kids.

Are there homeschooled kids who are weird, anti-social, don't fit in, etc.? Of course. But there are also public schooled kids like that, so you can't really blame homeschooling. Furthermore, I know a few homeschooled kids who are with public schooled kids regularly and they complain about the public schooled kids' incessant focus on impressing others, talking about parties, getting involved in school drama... Seems to me that if homeschooled kids don't fit in with public schooled kids, it's because they haven't grown up believing that the typical social nonsense is how things are and are supposed to be. This is a good thing.

I realize this doesn't help your against side. Did you choose the against side or is that what you were assigned? If you chose it, can you change it? You won't be able to properly defend it if you are going to base your arguments on nothing more than opinions. For a persuasive essay, you have to have some sort of reliable fact or examples that are truly reflective of what you are arguing for. Opinions don't count for much if you can't defend them properly.
I was a homeschooled teen just a few years ago and I thank my lucky stars I was never sent to school! My parents allowed my to homeschooled K-12 and and I plan on giving my children the same option.

Most of my friends, my friend's friends, amd my parent's friend's kids homeschool, so I know more homeschoolers than I could ever have time to count. In my experience, both being a teenage homeschooler and knowing teen homeschoolers, I have found that they are more socially adapted to the world around them. The are comfortable talking to adults and younger/older kids, they are interested in the world around them (especially politics), they have great self-dicipline, and they move easily into the college/career world. There are exceptions for everything. There are shy, depressed, anti-social homeschoolers out there. But for the most part, homeschoolers are more content with their lives. They realize that they have been saved from going through the artificial socialization of the public school system. I say artificial because where else in your life will you be forced to socialize with the same age group, in the same rooms, at the same times, with the same clicks, everyday. What kind of lame experience is that? Well, besides a nursing home. I would have gone insane if I had gone to public school. I would have been bored out of my mind!

I know from personal experience that homeschoolers are generally more mature than public schoolers, and sometimes people mistake this for shyness, depression, whatever. For me it just meant that I knew how to behave like an adult when the time called for it. And trust me, I could be just as loud, obnoxious, and immature as any other teen out there. I just didn't act that way all the time.
Wow! as a former HR person, some of the worst spellers I encountered came out of the public school arena.

I have homeschooled for almost 20 years, and I can tell you that homeschoolers in general are better students, and better employees. Primarily, because they know how to work individually, and are self motivated.

I am not going to try and convince anyone that homeschooling is better, because it sounds like the naysayers are very close minded to the issue.
As a homeschooler I don't believe this is a black or white answer....

I (Personally) think homeschooling is not the best thing for most kids, but I don't think that's the only answer....

I think it mainly depends on the situation, and frankly the luck, or what some people would even call ';Blessed'; on their homeschooling experience....I see that many people are happy with being homeschooled, and I feel can in fact give the person being homeschooled more of a better education, and some can have good, if not better social lives being homeschooled....

    However as a homeschooler, who has not been lucky enough to have a good homeschooling experience (Not in my eyes), I will tell you I feel that there are many good things about being homeschooled, but I feel that whether or not children, or parents realize it, I feel that it is detrimental to our very being....And I feel that it hurts deep down to the core of looking at life, and looking at friends, people going to school, ect....And it gets you to saying the few things we all think at one point in our life ';What could have been?'; And ';I wish I could have/do that.';

But again, this isn't a black or white answer, every homeschooler has a different view of homeschooling, and life in general....And I realized that, frankly I'm not only alone in life, but rather also alone in my view of homeschooling, which I would consider to be down right hatred and disgust....

But each and every one of us has our own situations....

So, life is what it is....Mine just happens to be wasting away with misery and loneliness, but hey! I'll have a great education though! Lot's of good things that will bring me! Pssssh! Things (Meaning knowledge) are nothing without having someone to share it with....

    =/
I homeschooled my daughter for the most part of the yr..its something that takes alot of thought but she and I loved it. She is now in public school because I didnt realize the dedication it would take and since Im a single mom I just couldnt give her the attention she needed. I think the whole experience was great and would recommend it to anyone!...by the way she was not only on the same level as the other kids in public school but was advanced in most subjects.
I couldn't say that I am specifically against homeschooling, I don't know enough about it to properly comment as I was not homeschooled, and I'm pretty bloody glad I wasn't too! In saying so, I don't mean any disrespect to those who do homeschool their children, because I'm sure they are acting in the interests of the child, but for me personally, public school (well, comprehensive) was the best way to go. It GREATLY built my confidence, well, really it forced me to build my confidence, taught me to interact on a daily basis with people that I might not necessarily like and taught me not to take myself so seriously. Now, I'm not saying that all homeschooled children don't learn these skills, I'm just saying that I am sure I would not have developed them had I been homeschooled.

It also gave me a lot of opportunities that I would not have gained otherwise - trips abroad (Berlin, Ypres, Paris, Bolougne!), to hear guest speakers (politicians, scientists, religious leaders) and for me personally, as an aspiring poet, I have received ample support from teachers who have helped me to find competitions I can enter, and have been able to give me impatial advice etc. I loved my secondary school/6th form years and I wouldn't have traded them for homeschooling for anything! I have received a wonderfully rich, unbiased, thoughtful education around a diverse group of people, and I'm very lucky.

I cannot speak against homeschooling, though. It's down to the parent's decision. If I have children, I, personally, am not going to homeschool them, but I have nothing against those that do. I am certain that the majority of parents that homeschool are NOT insane religious fundamentalists!

I'm not sure if that will help you, personally I think you'll get further by highlighting the benefits of being educated publically, and avoid bashing homeschooling.
i am 17 and have been homeschooled for several years now and i like it i get a whole lot more one on one help with school unlike public were most of the teachers attention goes strait to the class clowns and not to the students who need the most help and i still get to go on little educational field trips with friends who are homeschooled i am not saying that homeschooling is right for everyone some need the atmosphere of public school and the parents may not be able to put their kids into homeschool but i think public and homeschooling is about the same in the price range depending on what you usually spend i am currently enrolled in the american school through lansing illinois

    hope this helps you out
Well, my son (10) is homeschooled, as are hundreds of his friends. He actually thinks that the homeschooled kids he knows are more socially aware and accepting of others than the public schooled kids he knows. That's his experience, anyway.

I think that it's great, if the child has a learning style that is geared toward homeschooling and parents that are able/willing to put the time and commitment into it. Not every child is wired to homeschool - some need the competition and structure of a classroom - just like not every child is wired to be in a classroom. For my son, a classroom would be 6-8 hours of pure hell; for the kid down the street, it might be just what they need.

Homeschooling is really only detrimental if the parents aren't willing to put the time and effort into it; out of the hundreds of homeschool families that I personally know, only one or two fit that description. Their kids are now back in school and doing pretty well.

Otherwise, homeschooling can be fantastic, both for the child and the parent. I love getting to teach my son and learn alongside him, to find him resources that fit his needs and interests rather than having to follow the state guidelines to a tee. Many of my friends feel the same. You really won't find anything other than stereotypes and myths as far as wide-reaching homeschool ';cons'; go...there just aren't any. The only ones that exist are in the individual families themselves.

Edit - MG - why do you assume that homeschooled kids are only educated at home, or that they aren't made to do things that go against their strong interests? They take group classes in various subjects, just like anyone else; many of them start college around 15 or 16. And almost every one of them has to take subjects that they wouldn't choose to do on their own - it's the law in every state that they have to take core courses, and we as parents make them do so as well. The difference is, they get to choose the individual curriculum *for those subjects* that makes the most sense to them. We as homeschool parents don't pamper our kids, the vast majority of us challenge them to their full potential. I can't speak for the schools in your area, but the schools in mine are so busy trying to keep their funding that they're unable to even come close to that.
    Why are you against homeschooling?

My thoughts about children who are homeschooled (up to and including high school) are that they are receving a superior, personalized education that meets the needs of that specific child. They are allowed to learn in the manner which fits them best and at their own pace. There is no cookie cutter mold that they have to fit into.

Because they are homeschooled, they have the freedom to study topics that interest them more in depth. Some children that attend traditional schools do not have the time because they are overloaded with homework (even after spending 7+ hours at school). Instead of reading about something in a book, they can go out and experience it.

Because they are homeschooled, they have a much better schedule for socializing. We do not have the morning rush to be up, fed and dressed and out the door in time to be on a bus or the evening rush to be fed, bathed and in bed early so we can do it all over again the next day. Since our ';school'; does not have 30+ children in a class that requires a lot of wasted time, we finish our school lessons around lunch, on average. Our afternoons are free for play (which includes physical activity), visits to the library, field trips, etc. Because we are not so rushed, my children enjoy being involved in many more activities than they would be if they attended school-baseball, Scouts, church, etc.

Because they can work at their own pace and not follow the mold, they are working ahead of schedule. My daughter would be in fourth grade in the public school but works several years ahead. My son also works ahead, though not as far as his sister. My daughter aspires to be a veterinarian, and will take college courses in high school for dual credit, and will probably have completed her bachelor's and doctorate before most will have been able to complete the bachelor's alone.

We take vacations when we want, which means when the prices are better and the crowds are less.

We do not have to worry about getting behind if someone is ill-we complete our work at home and what we do not get done that day, we make up the next. Unfortunately, life does not always limit you to ten sick days a year as the public school does.

So, what information do you have that makes you against homeschooling?
    Im home-schooled

    16 and almost done

I can't really say anything bad against it.

    well wait up I can

I was home-schooled with Christian stuff at once

    I HATED IT

now i'm with Penn foster, its simply the best thing

better than public school by far.

I have many friends etc etc

    Im a normal teenager

Go out on the weekends and what not

I have more freedom not being in public school.

    so its kinda great
I was home-schooled until I was 10 years old. Ever since then I've been the head of my class. I suppose the only problem with homeschoolers is that we don't get the same indoctrination that the people in the public training camps get so we don't fit in as well with the 1984 style brainwashed masses.

    :)
Well, I guess it's different for everybody. I'm not too fond of public schools, especially for younger elementary age kids, but I also think that being around other kids is important to development. Waldorf schools are the way to go, look em up.
    Homeschoolers are weird.

I'm homeschooled. I have been my whole life.

But i have a million trillion public school friends that are seniors (I'm a freshman)

It's definately true that homeschoolers can be very anti-social.

But not all of us are like that.
ok listen i am a home-schooled kid and i love it! people keep saying that were antisocial well pardon me but that's just rude you can't say someone's antisocial if you've never met them! That's crazy well at least I'M not going to public school and shooting everyone or blowing them up!!!!!!!!!
i am home schooled and i love it! their is no reason to be against it... you shouldn't jug. i have bunches of friends that i see at least once a week and talk to every day on my computer. i love being home schooled! any Qs for me?
I think homeschoolers are very blessed to have parents that care enough about them to make sure they have the best education available. I feel sorry for kids in public school.
I'm home-schooled I'm 15 %26amp; im studying for my GCSE's i hated my seconary school %26amp; homeschooling was deffinately a great option to choose much better than being at normal school
Sorry to hear you pulled the loosing side of the argument, but in a way that's good, it makes it more of a challenge. You'll have a hard time finding any research to back your side, because there isn't any.

So you'll have to fight dirty, twist the facts, quote people who are anti-HS but highlight their qualifications and ignore the vested interests. You should be able to find lots of quotes from teaching union reps and similar saying how only qualified teachers can possibly teach.

Cast a few aspersions on the wacky religious and the new age hippies who choose to HS and how their values are messed up. Then suggest kids who can't cope with school are mentally ill and need professional help and you should have a speech.

Just put your morals aside and try to think like a politician!
To me, the overall big thing about public schools is NOT the content, the curricula, the books. Those you can easily read at home - and if you麓re bright, organized and interested, you might even be able to do it quicker/better on your own at home. I think we麓ve all experienced situations like that.

School is about dealing with people your age, teachers, school staff and a wide variety of issues. If there麓s a bully in your class, you need to straighten up and find a way to deal with that. If there is this one teacher you don麓t like (and maybe you feel he doesn麓t like you), you need to goddamn pull yourself together and/or stand up and speak your mind. It is not only the social interaction of teenagers roughly the same age in public schools - most of all, it is about yourself. You need to develop your individual personality, you need to learn to appreciate the good things that come with life and you need to deal with slightly more negative sides to every story that simply exist.

As has been very rightly pointed out, homeschooling is mostly about trying to suit individual needs. For some kids, and there are quite some, homeschooling is the best thing to do, there can be no doubt about that. However, for the vast majority, dealing with all the ups and downs of daily public school life (that simply cannot be replaced by your mother, the neighbour or one private tutor teaching you) are really what counts.

And on the topic / curricula level: yes, homeschooling allows you to choose topics you麓re interested in. So, what other place to better learn that there are simply things that need to be done, whether you麓re interested or not, than school? Yes, forcing you can be done at home, too - but at home, it is about YOURSELF. You are a social being, and giving in when other pupils are interested in a topic even though you are not; and be ';forced'; to still invest time and effort are a worthy thing to take with you.

Overall, it is the challenges you overcome that make you grow. :)
If home school children benefit from one on one attention from an undistracted parent as they go through their lessons for the day I am all for it.

What I am against is people who pull their kids out of school because they are too lazy to get up in the morning and help them get ready for school. People who get the books and set them in front of their kids and offer no help. If a child is struggling with a subject and they don't have a parent who cares then they will never understand the subject. Parents who don't keep a consistent schedule so months go by without the children having any lessons at all.

Some of the most atrocious readers and spellers I have encountered were home schooled. Some of the teens most unprepared for the challenges of adulthood were home schooled.

My children are not home schooled but have friends who were.
first of all to the 'firebird' person? are you serious!? she has against homeschooling, of course she has the better end of the argument. i'm 15, live in australia just so u know where the opinions coming from. (oh and i go to a normal co-ed private school, and have been to 2 different high schools btw).... anyway

school isnt just about ACADEMIC education, its for the most part THE place where you grow into an adult. well not into an adult but you mature and learn how to communicate. it's about EDUCATION about math, english, bio etc etc ASWELL as how to talk to not only kids your age, but adults/teachers too.. its about learning in general not just academically and i think homeschooling is stupid and unfair. i only vaguely know these two brothers that are homeschooled and i dunno they seem normal, one of them has the most amazing personality.

i'm not sure if this is relevant but

i went to school1 the first year grade 8 and back then i was an ignorant person. then i changed schools (because i was scarec that my friend and i were moving into a group and i wasnt gonna fit in or somethiing like that) and then over the next year at school2 i grew so much i matured and i'm not ignorant anymore. and now i go to school1 again cause i followed my heart and yea thats where it said to go. so yeah, everyone grows up through different experiences or just over time,, mine was thru school. i'm not sure if thats completely relevant anyway

    good luck

    (:
I believe it takes away a good amount of social interaction with kids their own age. all the home-schooled kids I always knew were very sheltered, religious and out of touch with the real world. It's the parents' decision, but I think it's better to learn things first hand than just be told about something and never get to experience it yourself. school is where kids make friends, get an education, and really learn how to function and be good people.
i went to public schooled am home schooled for the moment but am going back to skool soon cos i cant stand another frickin minute in here! i have been home skooled 4 a couple of months 2 see what it woz like n to see if i would do better at my work but i do worse!!! its hard to conentrate its BORING!! no freiends here n i get really lonely even tho i go out on nites n that its still fun to talk to yr frends throught he day n if i knew i woz stayin at home for another second i would go crazy! i mean it works for lots of ppl n its easy for them but i need ppl 2 talk 2 and fun n intrestin imes not at home its soooooooooooo boring cant wait to go too skool!!! but thats just my opion other ppl may be diffrent as my learning skill is interpersonal so i do better around other ppl but some ppl are intrapersonal which means they do better on thyere own.
Well if you're against it, the only thing I can come up with is the students who were home schooled tend to be on the antisocial side. Not all of them. I count more pros than I do cons in the end.
    well i don't because i used to be home-schooled so i can't sayy:[??

What was the book about the homeless teenagers that had strange names and they all stuck together?

I think they might have been in New York?

And there was a person holding a cardboard sign on the front and it had the name on the cardboard sign.

I can't remember who it was by or anything and I really really want to remember what it was called cos it was a really good book. What was the book about the homeless teenagers that had strange names and they all stuck together?
Can't Get There From Here by Todd Strasser

A surrogate family of homeless teens lives on the streets of New York City, and the bleakness of their lives is clear early on when Country Club dies of ';liver failure due to acute alcohol poisoning.'; His brief life is summarized in a one-page dossierlike format that immediately precedes the narrative description of his death. These clinical dossiers recur, like a premonition, as one by one this ragtag ';family'; disintegrates. But first, readers meet Maggot; Rainbow; beautiful, HIV-positive 2Moro; her club-hopping, sexually amorphous friend Jewel; the protagonist/narrator Maybe; and Tears, the newest, and, at 12 years of age, youngest member of the group. Gradually revealed are the physical and psychological scars that marked their paths to the police sweeps, illness, drugs, and destitution that litter their lives. Also made clear is the fact that these teens reject many offers of help, but find that the street looks better than the horrors from which they've fled. A kindly librarian, Anthony, becomes the hero, reuniting Tears with her grandparents and offering the possibility of a safe future to Maybe.

For auto insurance the fastest method to get a low quote is do a car policy comparison. If you choose the same coverage levels, you can get an quick quote to compare against others. Use the same city/state, car make and model, mileage and driving history to make sure you get accurate comparison. To get easy auto insurance quotes, go to http://www.autoadviceonline.com/Auto-Ins鈥?/a> and you can compare the major auto insurance companies. What are the most affordable insurance for teenagers?
Cheapest insurance for a teenager is life insurance.

As far as car insurance goes, there's no ';one size fits all'; cheapest company. The cheapest insurance, will be for a ';paid for'; car, with just liability on it. Of course, if she cracks it up, there's no coverage for the car itself.

There's no shortcut. You'll have to shop around, to find the cheapest rate for YOU.
i'm 16 and have just been insured for riding a moped, so i know how hard it is to find reasonable insurance! best thing is to shop around and get quotes for her specific situation - some insurers are better for young drivers than others. i'd also recommend 3rd party cover due to it being inexpensive.
State Farm all the way (I have been working for the company for 5 years) We offer great rates for youth full drivers. As far as the cost goes it depends on the vehicle if you are planning on only putting liability it will be the same cost no matter what vehicle you choose. Is the word nymphomaniac common knowledge to teenagers aged 16 and up?

Just curious. Would really like to know in the next hour or so to prove a point! Is the word nymphomaniac common knowledge to teenagers aged 16 and up?
Yes, however they usually only know the term ';nympho';. I find that in most cases the teenagers know the term means something ';dirty'; or use it to mean a person who likes sex a lot, or is addicted to sex.
