How can we encourage teenagers to get involved in community service?

Give them incentive.

There's no such thing as a free lunch, free labor included. They need to feel that they'll get something out of it.

At the very least, you've got to make it so that they can actually accomplish things while doing community service. Picking up trash and helping out at soup kitchens is nice, but it isn't inspiring or encouraging. Young people want to get things done, they don't want to feel like they're just prolonging the inevitable or plodding away at a solution that doesn't work. How can we encourage teenagers to get involved in community service?
Teenage is the most beautiful phase in life...where everything you see, learn and hear is magical...and the teenager feels like having just come out of a cocoon....

During this stage, the black truths, painful things in life are not experienced...simply due to the fact of not having much experiences...

so a good way of attracting young people to social service is to make them see, hear and feel the need for community service...for this we should provide them an insight of what poverty is and etc...How can we encourage teenagers to get involved in community service?
The younger the better. Set up some clearly acts of charity withe elderly, the homeless, There are a thousand ways

Let me give you an example....get my email on YA and lets talk. I believe in this so much, you are like a gift to me from God
Encourage yeah, don't force. We were forced to do community service in school and I can tell that some of us did it unsincerely. Community service is about serving others sincerely and with all your heart. No point getting them to do community service with a long face.
lead by example.
Make it seem cool.
Many schools more Christian ones involve students in community service and is added onto their credits at the end of the year.Maybe public high schools should follow suit.Lead by example.
get them involved doing something they enjoy doing or know how to do well. If they're artists, or like sports, have them teach their skills to younger children
