Where are good places to bring teenagers on vacation?

where are good places to bring a teenager for a vacation?

preferably one that families with teens go to.Where are good places to bring teenagers on vacation?
I'm a thirteen-year-old girl, and honestly, family vacations don't really excite me much, but they are fun when there's something to do. The absolute worst thing you can do is take your teenager to a place where there's no shopping or attractions they can go to, or would be interested in. So, if you're traveling to a destination with a group of mostly little kids and one teenager, or the younger children to teenager ratio is in the favor of the younger kids, try to not spend too much time with activities that only the little children will enjoy. I don't know the teenager(s) you're talking about individually, so I'm going to have to give advice for basic scenarios.

If the teenager in question is a girl, and is more of the girly type, make sure your destination has lots of great shopping and spas/salons. You could maybe take her out one day (assuming you're her mother, and the father is coming along too) without the other younger kids (assuming there are younger siblings) and take her shopping, or maybe take her to get a facial, or get her nails done. Her dad could stay with the other children and spend time with them that day.

If she's not really the girly type, you could both go to the beach, or maybe if she is really into nature, you could go on a hike together. The key is to make sure you have some one-on-one time with the teenager. The same concept applies if you have more than one teenager with you. Make sure you do some things that they are interested in, even if just for one day. Without some time with the teenager to explore and do what they want to do, it won't be fun for them. Because I'm not a boy, I don't really know what a boy would want to do on vacation, but maybe you'll get some insight about that through other people's answers.

For good shopping and salons/spas, New York City would be a great option. But, if you do have younger children traveling with you, I can't say I am aware of what you can do in NYC that little kids would enjoy. I visited San Francisco with my family once, and the exploratorium was a hit with not only my sister and I, but with my older brother as well. I was about ten, my sister was nine, and my brother was fifteen. There is an attraction called the Tactile Dome, where you go in to a pitch black maze, and have to feel your way out. It's really fun, and you can probably do that with the entire family. Also, in San Francisco, there is tons of shopping, both in big malls, and there are also little towns with unique little shops, small cafes/resaurants, and salons. These little towns would be great for that one day of your vacation you spend one-on-one with your teen. If you're more interested in going to the beach with your teen, St. Petersburg in Florida is a great place to go. My dad has been there recently, and he absoloutely loves it there. If your teen is more of the hiking and nature type, I was just in Utah this summer, because we were taking my brother to college, and the mountains were spectacular. We were in Provo, and just drove around randomly one day to find something to do, and found one of the many trails there are, and took a hike. I got tons of amazing pictures of the breathtaking scenery, and had a great time with my family. One thing to be aware of, though, is that the bugs there are really big, so I suggest that the younger kids don't go hiking with you if they will get bothered by the bugs. They also have an amazing water park there, called Seven Peaks Water Park, which would be GREAT for the entire family. They have a bunch of cool waterslides, a wavepool, and another pool with a rope that you can swing into. But, make sure you don't plan anything on a Sunday, because practically EVERYTHING is closed on Sunday, because Provo is a largely mormon town. If you are not planning on staying in Provo, but maybe just going to the water park that is in that town, just make sure you go when it's not a Sunday. I can't remember whether or not they are open Sunday. Lots of places in Salt Lake are probably open on Sunday, and there is some great shopping in Salt Lake as well. Also, a great restaurant to visit in Utah is Tucanos, and Mimi's Cafe is a great place for breakfast and lunch. They also serve dinner, but I've never had dinner there before.

Ahhh, well that was a long response, hah, but I hope I helped. Good Luck!Where are good places to bring teenagers on vacation?
