If a teenager smokes cigarettes, can it completly stop the growing process? I haven't felt growing pains since I started smoking years ago, could I stay at my current height (pretty short) my whole life if I smoke throughout the growth process? Help! Well, it reduces rate of lung growth. lol.

I don't think it does much external damage like your talking about... but it can cause wrinkles, yellow teeth, yellow fingers, etc.

There are a lot more physical and mental damage that can come about from smoking. I am against smoking at any age, but that's not your question, so I will leave my opinions out.

I will have to say, though, that there are many more negative factors to smoking than positive. How does smoking affect a teenagers height growth?
Q: Does smoking affect the growth of a 17-year-old male?

A: Everyone knows that smoking is bad for you. You learn it in school, you read about it in newspapers, and your parents have probably told you a thousand times not to smoke. Teen Growth cannot say enough about not smoking and on our Web site we have an article that describes 55 Reasons not to Smoke.

Smoking can stunt your growth. In fact, smoking affects growth even before you are born. Mothers who smoke during their pregnancy have lower birth-weight babies and those babies are more likely to have health problems as they grow up.

Smoking is associated with weight loss, poor weight gain and excessive tiredness during adolescence. Smoking also causes increased respiratory infections and early lung damage that decreases the amount of oxygen your growing cells receive.

Yes, you’ve heard right - smoking can stunt your growth. Even after your bones have finished growing, smoking effects you only in bad ways, so if you are smoking, seek the help of a health care professional in quitting. It is also proven that it can affect you even when you’re not smoking but just hanging around people who smoke (“second-hand smoke”). So if you have a friend who smokes around you, that person is really not your friend!
im not sure if it affects growing, but it does affect your lungs.

if you really wanna have lung cancer when you grow up go for it! Maybe you should slow down on smoking.
Not sure if it affects the height growth but it must affect the brain growth!..
