What are some topics that teenagers like to talk about?

I have to write a poem for a section in a news paper called the ';whatever'; section which written by teens for teens, but there is a problem. I cant figure out a topic that a lot of teens would be interested in and would read.What are some topics that teenagers like to talk about?
Do a sarcastic piece about Grey's Anatomy and Desperate Housewives etc. Even people who love those shows love to make fun of how soap opera-ey they can get.What are some topics that teenagers like to talk about?
Teens enjoy talking about music, movies, celebrities, gossip, drama, life, relationships, other people, tv shows,fashion, shopping, partying and things to do with partying, girls/guys ';what they did last night';, etc...etc..
They like to talk about the future. Write poems explaining stuff about future.
Books, definitely. You might not think kids these days are very interested when it comes to books, but they are! Even teens who are different from one another in major ways can relate to the language of books. Also, stay away from awkward subjects, unless you are writing for older teens. You have to first look at the age group you will be writing for. How old are they? Have they experienced some of things you talk about?? Can they relate to you and the subject well???





Just remember that sometimes it's hard to talk to a person about drugs or alcohol if they haven't had any experience with them or if they know nothing about them. Then you'll just turn into another R rated column in the newspaper.





Do some research. Find out the rate for drug related arrests or alcohol misuse in your area. Look at some of the problems that the majority of the teens in your area are faced with. And remember, you can't satisfy everyone, so choose a particular group of people you wish to reach (because a group of teens has sects too, and you can鈥檛 reach them all, unfortunately)

Write about a girl who desperately wants to fit in with the 'cool girls' but they think she's a loser. She despises them and yet still wants to be accepted by them. Maybe she could be a little overweight as well.


Almost all teenagers are terrified of not being accepted.
Teens like to talk about alot of things...but i say the most thing they are intrested is in guys and girls....what goes through there minds...
