Can teenagers become depressed if they are not in a relationship?

Hi I am going to be a child psychologist and I was wondering in teenagers, can NOT having a boyfriend or girlfriend cause teenagers to become depressed. Thanks, I really appreciate it.Can teenagers become depressed if they are not in a relationship?
No. That in itself would not cause depression, but it might be a 'contributing factor'. People need to feel happy and content on their own, especially teens. Can teenagers become depressed if they are not in a relationship?
when i was younger i heard my friends talking about going out with thier boyfriends and talking to guys they liked.

hmmm. i was sad then because ** i was not the cutest girl but i had a fabulous personality.

i do not think it is relationships that make teens depressed. it is body image, personality, and/or clothes.

and i think that it is what i just mensioned that may cause a lead to depression and also failed relationships.

i think you will make an excellent child psychologist! (hmm. i dont know you, but i think you will do well).

** i a supah rockin cutie pie now!! haha

hope i helped!
TOTALLY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! People want to know that they are loved and want to be loved a lot when you are a teenager (me being one myself and going through this) Teenagers will get super desperate when they really want a boy friend or girl friend. I know that me and a lot of my friends are feeling that way. Like you are so ready and you just want to have one SO bad! I think that it does depress people because you see other people at the school with each other and are all happy and stuff and then you are like alone...with friends...but no one that you love THAT way. I find myself getting depressed some times... :(

Hope that helps :)
Yes its possible. They watch tv and watch other teens and notice how lonely they are. everyone (yes everyone, even if you do not like to admit it) wants a partner. A person to tell everything to and spend time with. So yeah they can be depressed over not having a relationship with another person.
Yes, because probably the case is [with mostly girls] that the teenager will eventually begin to feel lonely.

Also, in high school, you see couples almost everywhere.

Well, in mine you do.

So it can make one feel lonely and they want that other person that they can go to for a smile or just to have a pleasant time to make them feel happy, valued, and wanted.
Yes, it's possible.

Because every teen wants love, and it drives them really crazy if they don't have it.
Of course they can, look at this forum for a few minutes and you'll have enough information for a case study
yes b/c they see others around them w someone and it could make them feel lonely and can cause major depression
Yes they can. I know I struggled greatly and still do for that matter.
