Well i am a teen (14) and i personally love to read book on topics like:
- fantasy
- historical fiction (that might just be me lol)
- romance
- sci-fi (nothing like too outrageous i find books about aliens just absurd)
Books on these topics include:
Great %26amp; Terrible Beauty Series (SIMPLE AMAZINGGGG)
Twilight Series (Must have heard that one lots)
Hunger Games (Also AMAAZINNNGGGGG )
Inheritance series: Eragon, Eldest %26amp; Brisingr (read each book like 3 times lol)
City of Bones, and i have yet to read City of Ashes the second book but i know it will be just as good as the first.
well at the moment those are all that come to mind. I hoped i helped :)
I read anything. Some of my friends like fantasy, others philosophy, others humor/satire, still others romance, action, classical, tragic, dramatic, informative, coming of age novels, deep stuff, light stuff, narratives, biographies, or memoirs. A rare group of my friends enjoy vintage science fiction (don't ask). The real question is: what does your friend want to write? The story will be better if it's the one she wants to tell. People will read it.
Read any Neil Gaiman? His novels are tremendously successful (two movies under his belt so far), and they're aimed at a young adult audience. They're also very diverse.
You've got a fantasy, like Stardust; children's lit/horror like Coraline; dark humor, like Good Omens...
John Green writes some great YA books too. Check out Looking for Alaska, Paper Towns and An Abundance of Katherines.
If she's writing for a female audience, Sarah Dessen's books are quite reputable.
So...realism is nice. Struggles, death, etc. all tend to do very well, as long as they're well-written.
Fantasy is nice too when it's appropriate. I enjoy Harry Potter. Millions do. But I would not hop on the wizard-vampire bandwagon. There's way too much of that and you need to stand out!
Apparently kids like to read about love, too. And sex.
Romance %26lt;3
Friend problems
Anything that has to do with teenagers learning to grow up and get over internal problems or just regular teens issues like fitting in or standing out.
thanks to
twilight there are a million stories with vampires in it same happen when harry potter came out a bunch stories about witches and wizards came out.
so dont do fantasy
dan brown books, hacking harvard by robin wasserman.
i'm pretty sure the girls are into books like
twilight
gossip girl
pretty little liars
etc.
I like to read about girls with eating disorders.
Teen love stories
And teen breakup stories
Stories that have sex in them, a lot of teens are drawn too as well
Write a crappy vampire novel that gives teenage girls something to giggle about.
She'll make millions.
