What is this huge obsession with alcohol among teenagers?

I have been a teenager and actually never enjoyed drinking beer, it never gave me a good mood and I can actually have a good mood most of the times that I want, without drinking beer or wine.


Am I from a different planet? What planet?What is this huge obsession with alcohol among teenagers?

Im not one for beer or wine.


Psychologically, the reason why most like it and brag about it is because they are told not to do it and/or they see it as being 'cool'. Kinda like Cigarettes.

at my school its a HUGE thing. as well as smoking marijuana. at my school there isn't a whole lot to do besides sports. we're in a small town. and parties are a huge thing. alcohol is most commonly used by teenagers because its right there in probably 95% of kids fridges!! a lot of people do it, because when they are buzzed, they can rid themselves of all their troubles. they are just in a zone. they have no trait of thought, and it distracts them from everyday problems. and another thing is when some body sees other people drinking and having a 'good time', they look at them and think, wow, i want to try that. its the same with marijuana. kids just want to try it, and see what its like, and they keep going back for more. hopefully this helps...
People enjoy its intoxicating effects.





Also, keep in mind that there's an even bigger obsession with alcohol among adults. In fact, adults consume the majority of the world's alcohol.





And it would be scary if you got to be an adult without having ever been a teenager. I would be worried.
your just a grounded person. maybe a little mature beyond your years. your peers cant wait to get drunk, cuz that is the thing to do. Partly because it is expected by teenagers who drink to do things they wouldn't typically do sober(you fill in the blanks). They tend to run headlong into fool hearty behavior. Maybe you are just more cautious. Or maybe you don't have to learn from first hand experience that happiness is not found in a bottle.
I was having that convo with my boyfriend who can only have a good time with getting messed up on booze or drugs. I find it kind of sad cuz I can have a good time without ingestion substances :) I find the whole bar concept of getting drunk in a building reallllyyyyyyyyyy dumb lol anyways yup
I think the reason guys drink is because of girls. I try and drink with girls, to try and get laid and such, but it hasn't worked out so well for me.
It's unhealthy, and I'm not supporting it. But:


It's a way of rebelling.


It's a way to ';fit in';.


Some people like hearing about what a good time they had from other friends. Odd.
I don't enjoy it, but I don't not enjoy it either. I only drink with my parents. But I don't like how people get when they drink, so I've really gone off it lately.

I have never really enjoyed drinking either. Neither has my boyfriend. It really just isn't that great!!!
