How did teenagers speak and what did they wear in the 1970s?

Can you give me some specific vocabulary that was used in the mid-1970s by young teens?

Both males and females; nothing too dirty, just the way kids spoke back then.

If the vocabulary was different on the east and west coast, please tell me.

Also, what was the name of the clothing or games they played?

Please be specific.

Thanks. How did teenagers speak and what did they wear in the 1970s?

Your best information for this would be to go to a video store and rent one of the early Elvis movies, or any of the beach/surf/sun movies that came out. They were full of teens, you can hear the slang they used and see the outfits they wore.

There was a big difference between New York and California in both language and clothing.
Pong was THE computer game. You played it on your TV. Air hockey was big. Parking.

Girls wore mini skirts until around 1973 when they were finally allowed to wear pants to school (even in the mid-west).

You didn't cuss your parents. You didn't even sass them. A kid who did was known to be a bad kid. The majority of kids did not cuss. They weren't allowed to at home and they couldn't at school. It wasn't allowed in the movies, either. If they did cuss, it was among friends doing the same thing.

Bellbottom trousers, mini skirts, wide leather belts with grommets in them, chain belts, long straight hair on the girls, long hair on the guys, sideburns.
I don't remember kids in the Midwestern US using a lot of ';70s'; slang. We always though it was weird when we'd watch TV and characters on shows would say stuff like ';far out'; and ';groovy.'; Only people who were pretending to be HIP would actually use this kind of language where I lived.

Clothes were pretty tacky back then. ';Garanimals,'; a color-coordinated clothing line for kids was popular. People think the 1960s had the colorful clothes and weird designs, but most of America didn't embrace that sort of thing until the 70s. Guys started wearing wide ties, jackets with big lapels, bell-bottom pants, and ';superfly'; suits. Women often wore ugly polyester clothing like pant-suits, miniskirts.

Long hair was popular for men and women, and facial hair was common for men. The owner of the Oakland A's baseball team even PAID his players to grow mustaches and mutton-chop sideburns because he thought it would make them seem cooler. When Saturday Night Live began in 1976, two male cast members (Dan Akyroyd and Garret Morris) had mustaches, and when Bill Murray joined the cast, he had one too!

People played mostly board games, cards, or did sports. Video games were still in their infancy, and kind of expensive. Plus, they used up the TV, and many people still had only ONE of those. You couldn't play Pong in one room, while people watched football in the other.
People walked around saying Groovy and Peace and FAR OUT! all the time. Noone would have EVER thought of being disrespectful to teachers or parents.

Bell Bottom pants that covered your shoes entirely were the IN thing.

Shirts had really crazy designs on them and BIG collars

Girls wore very tight, tight jeans or miniskirts and were into NOT wearing bras.

PINBALL Machines were the games everyone played.

Airhockey was very popular...

There were no real computer games except PONG....it was played on a TV set....each player had a paddle which controlled a Vertical Line on the Tv....they then batted and electronic dot back and forth, like tennis. It was the greatest thing ever!!!!!
Most of you are citing slang of the 1960's, not the 70's. Examples: bread, foxy, groovy and most psychadelic words.
Far Out!

Right on!

Freak out.

Kook

Oh Wow

Maybe groovy
